Crystal Palace vs. Chelsea
Venue: Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace welcomes Chelsea to Selhurst Park in the London derby on Tuesday evening.
The Blues instantly bounced back from a 10th defeat of the league campaign at West Ham United in another London derby as they got the better of Watford on Saturday.
While Chelsea might have major concerns regarding their inconsistency, Palace have even far deeper issues, failing to score in three straight matches and Tuesday might produce further problems.
Like most matches on this ground, we expect a low and one-sided scoring encounter, Chelsea to win and another rare Kepa Arrizabalaga clean sheet.
Prediction: Palace 0 – 2 Chelsea
Watford vs. Norwich City
Venue: Vicarage Road
An intense relegation battle is expected between Watford and Norwich City at Vicarage Road.
The Hornets, who are just a spot above the bottom three are winless in their last five games but can take solace in the fact that the Canaries have fared worse failing to score and secure a point in the same number of games.
We tip Watford to get back to winning ways, the first time since the end of February but Norwich should end their 450 minutes barren spell in front of goal in this game.
Prediction: Watford 2 – 1 Norwich
Arsenal vs. Leicester City
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Arsenal and Leicester City meet at the Emirates Stadium in Tuesday’s final game.
The Gunners are currently on a cruise, winning three games in a row after suffering a stumble at the restart of the league, including injuries and suspensions to key players.
However, they come up against the highest profile opposition since losing to Manchester City, the Foxes themselves not going through their best spell but have goalkeeper and stand-in-captain Kasper Schmeichel to thank for still keeping them in the top four race, courtesy of his excellent saves.
We expect both teams to score, Alexandre Lacazette to get on the score sheet for the hosts and a draw to settle this tie.
Prediction: Arsenal 1 – 1 Leicester
Man City vs. Newcastle United
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Manchester City hosts an in-from Newcastle United in a potentially exciting game at the Etihad Stadium.
Steve Bruce’s Magpies team are presently the Premier League’s second most in-form side behind Manchester United and they will look to extend that unbeaten run against an opposition who have little or nothing to play for asides prestige.
While we expect Pep Guardiola to rotate his squad, the City line-up will prove particularly too strong for Newcastle, whose opponents post the lock-down bar Sheffield United are all relegation battlers.
We tip Newcastle to continue their scoring run for a sixth straight game, over 3.5 goals and a Manchester City victory.
Prediction: Man City 3 – 1 NUFC
Sheffield vs. Wolverhampton
Venue: Bramall Lane
Sheffield United hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers in the battle of outsiders for an European ticket.
The Blades have played four games on the road post the lock-down, spectacularly winning their lone home match against Tottenham Hotspur.
The time might not be the best for Wolves, who are still shell shocked from their home defeat at the weekend to Arsenal, as they looked unusually sluggish and out of sorts.
This should be an open game which could go either way, but we predict a score draw to settle this encounter.
Prediction: Sheffield 1 – 1 Wolves
West Ham vs. Burnley
Venue: London Stadium
West Ham United could move further clear of the relegation zone as they welcome Burnley to the London Stadium.
The Hammers’ fortunes and form have greatly improved in the last two games, picking up four points, Michail Antonio at the heart of the mini-revival.
The momentum is presently high within the squad and as such Burnley might find West Ham out of their reach in this encounter. We predict a one-sided West Ham home victory.
Prediction: West Ham 2 – 0 Burnley
Brighton vs. Liverpool
Venue: Amex Stadium
Premier League champions Liverpool are away to Brighton in a game of little significance to the Reds but holds much more for the Seagulls.
Liverpool have been far from their best post the lock-down, their high press and effective approach deserting them and their struggles could be further exposed against a Brighton team, whose game-management has almost guaranteed safety for a third straight season.
We expect both teams to score, over 2.5 goals and a draw to settle this game, a major boost towards Brighton’s survival.
Prediction: Brighton 2 – 2 Liverpool
Bournemouth vs. Tottenham
Venue: Vitality Stadium
Tottenham Hotspur are away to a struggling Bournemouth on Thursday evening.
Spurs have been far from being at their best this season and were further humiliated at Sheffield United, a loss which all but ended their European ambitions for next season.
They need not worry against a Bournemouth side, who are condemned for the drop and looked pathetically helpless away to Manchester United as they conceded five goals.
We tip Spurs for an away win, both teams to score and over 3.5 goals, a result which puts Bournemouth minutes away from a return to the Championship after five years.
Prediction: Bournemouth 1 – 3 Spurs
Everton vs. Southampton
Venue: Goodison Park
Everton are hosts to Southampton at Goodison Park on Thursday evening.
The Saints created a massive upset against Manchester City at the Saint Mary’s Stadium on Sunday evening and they will bank on that momentum and an impressive away record to halt Everton’s fine record under Carlo Ancelotti.
The Toffees have been one of the league’s most reliable home teams lately and we predict that run of form to continue as they edge a game we expect to produce over 2.5 goals.
Prediction: Everton 2 – 1 Saints
Aston Villa vs. Manchester United
Venue: Villa Park
The final game of the round sees a high-flying Manchester United visit relegation-battlers Aston Villa.
The Red Devils are currently on the verge of robbing either of Chelsea or Leicester City of a UEFA Champions League ticket and they can expect that to happen if they extend their great form at Villa.
The front three of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood all found the back of the net against Bournemouth and added to the creativity and goals from Bruno Fernandes, there seems to be no stopping this well-oiled United machine.
The picture doesn’t look great for Villa, whose over-reliance on Jack Grealish has cost them dearly this season. We expect Manchester United to seal yet another high scoring victory.
Prediction: Villa 1 –3 Man Utd
